If you are an MBB consultant, you can upgrade your problem-solving, improve communication, and level up your performance…Even if you are currently struggling and have no time to learn.Using my proven coaching program, MBB Performance Accelerator, which has transformed the careers of more than 60 consultants at McKinsey, BCG, and Bain.
This is for you, if you are a post-MBA experienced hire who joined consulting in your 30s.I am about to share how you can radically improve your performance in weeks, not months or years...Using my coaching program that focuses on upgrading your problem-solving through a series of practical exercises and high-touch feedback sessions...The program also shares with you unspoken rules and expectations to help you navigate your firm’s politics. As a result, you will impress your partners and clients, secure leadership support, work on the most exciting projects, acquire unique experiences, get better career opportunities, and, most importantly,You become confident and stress-free.I tested my coaching approach with dozens of consultants when I worked at McKinsey, and refined it further when I started my coaching business. It works well even if you are extremely busy working 12-14 hours per day and have limited time for extracurricular learning. It takes just a couple of hours per week to start getting visible results.Because you will learn from other consultants by leveraging their insights, mistakes, and ideas. You will do it by completing practical exercises, watching videos of how they perform, and comparing your outputs with the best benchmarks. This coaching program has already helped more than 60 MBB consultants from McKinsey, BCG, and Bain across 5 continents and 20 countries. So, now it’s your time to improve your performance, get exciting career opportunities, and achieve a better lifestyle.
But first, let me introduce myself…My name is Rustem Karymov.I joined McKinsey at 34.It was a big career breakthrough for me. I left a fairly successful career in finance for that. Finally, I got to play in the big league. As a result, I've worked at McKinsey for 9 years in 10 countries across four continents.

I have to admit, I had a lot of fun working at McKinsey...
I joined as an Associate. After 2.5 years, I was promoted to an EM, and then advanced to an AP in another 2.5 years. For the last four years, I worked as an AP, leading dozens of projects, staffing many consultants, and evaluating them. That means I worked on ‘the other side of the aisle’ and know exactly how your managers and partners think, make staffing decisions, and assess consultants.I will share all these insights with you so you can position yourself better and navigate your workplace more effectively. But it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. My first two years at McKinsey were extremely difficult. It was a constant battle with stress, anxiety, and insecurities.Actually, I was not a bad consultant. I consistently received average ratings and occasionally even higher ones. But deep down, I knew I wasn’t safe. Any bad project could send me into a negative spiral, eventually get me fired, and basically derail my whole career.I simply couldn’t risk it. It was just too important for me.That’s why I was actively looking for different ways to improve my performance, but I struggled with that.I looked for help inside and outside the firm. The standard firm trainings were too theoretical and out of touch. The feedback from managers and partners was too generic. Also, it was not a risk-free environment. I couldn’t share my struggles with my partners. I was afraid of looking weak.I hired external executive coaches. But their advice was even more generic. They didn’t understand the pressures and challenges I was going through. All my efforts were useless.I was missing some invisible but important ingredients, like unspoken rules and expectations.Over time, I lost my confidence and started to believe that I was not smart enough for this job.
Then, I met the person who completely changed how I worked. His name was Alex, a superstar BA. He was a proper nerd in the best sense of the word.I remember hearing office legends about him. Once, he took the GMAT test on a bet with his friends. He prepared for only a few days and scored 780 (99th percentile). And the funniest thing is that he didn’t even plan to apply for an MBA.He worked on an unimaginable level. His outputs were impeccable. Partners and clients adored him.He was 10 years younger than me. We worked together on a project. I had to learn to work like him.So, I swallowed my pride and asked him to help me.I treated him with the respect he deserved, and we became good friends. That’s why he taught me his full consulting playbook. It was counterintuitive but easy to execute. The impact was almost immediate. My performance dramatically improved. Partners started liking how I worked, and they supported me more. This all resulted in a higher rating, better staffing, and faster promotion. But the most important benefit for me was that partners started taking me more seriously, with respect. That gave me higher confidence, fulfillment, and enjoyment working in consulting.

This is Alex and me together on our client's site.
Then, I met the person who completely changed my career. His name was Tim, a superstar partner. He was a brilliant problem-solver, the smartest person I ever met in the firm.He always worked on the coolest projects with the most advanced clients. Everyone wanted to work with him, but he had very high standards.Once, I helped him with a client proposal. I made one killer slide that impressed a senior client, and we sold a big project.Tim was really impressed.Since then, he actively sponsored me, created opportunities, and helped me navigate the firm's politics.Basically, he shared all the unspoken rules and expectations with me that people usually share only with those they really trust.Interestingly enough, I had known Tim for a few years before. But he started helping me only when I improved my performance after implementing Alex's playbook. In hindsight, I understand that Tim started supporting me only because I became valuable to him.In a way, Alex helped me to unlock Tim's relationship. As a result, I learned to navigate the firm’s politics, build stronger relationships with senior partners, understand their needs, and ask for help without feeling awkward. All of that had an even bigger impact on my career and eventually led to my AP promotion.

Here's Tim and I driving in a taxi from the client's site (Tim is not a public person, that's why I blured his face)
I will forever be grateful to Alex and Tim. Alex gave me technical skills, and Tim gave me social ones. That’s how I became a high-performing consultant.I finally started enjoying working at McKinsey. Then, when I became a manager, I started sharing Alex’s and Tim’s practices with my teams. I noticed how quickly consultants improved with structured coaching.I realized that I got something truly valuable and much needed for many consultants.I decided to document all these best practices in a playbook that I could share with others.Over time, I refined this playbook with my highest-performing consultants in different projects, industries, and even countries. We tested various techniques and kept only the most effective ones.As a result, more and more consultants I worked with improved their performance, built confidence, and achieved a better lifestyle. For example, throughout my time at McKinsey, I have mentored and coached more than 10 distinctive consultants (the highest rating at McKinsey) and countless high-performing ones. If you know what that means, you understand that it is quite rare.At that time, I started asking myself a question:How can I scale this impact to more consultants? Then, I decided to start my own coaching business and share my playbook with consultants from other MBB firms.I polished the playbook and packaged it into a comprehensive coaching program that I now proudly share with MBB consultants.Let me introduce...

It’s the full support program that has everything you need as an MBB consultant:- Playbook to learn best practices
- Exercises to upgrade hard and soft skills
- Community to learn from other consultants
- Mentorship to help you make better decisionsThis program is designed to give you all the things you miss at your firm in terms of development, coaching, and mentorship. So you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, and you can leverage the experience of previous generations of consultants. You will learn in a risk-free environment, receiving honest, actionable, and evidence-based feedback directly from me.As a result, you shorten your development timeline from months to weeks. For example, typically, in the first 3-4 weeks, consultants feel that their most acute pain, stress, and anxieties disappear. Then, in another 3-4 weeks, they achieve a step change in their performance and start getting positive momentum in their work. The program is specifically designed for busy consultants. It focuses on delivering the most impactful learnings in the most time-efficient way.And you can move through the program at your own speed based on your availability. The learning is very straightforward. You’ll watch videos, complete practical exercises, and get actionable feedback and advice. It only takes you as little as a couple of hours per week to get visible results quickly. For example, one of my clients, Tanush Jagdish, an Associate from McKinsey Boston, struggled with performance and risked getting fired when he joined my program. But after completing a couple of exercises, he started getting traction with his leadership, improved his staffing situation, and in 6 months received a higher rating. He not only secured his job but also built a strong reputation in his office, so partners fought each other for his staffing. If you want that type of result, then the MBB Performance Accelerator is perfect for you.
How does it work?
The program has four major components to deliver the benefits.
1. Playbook
A collection of best practices and unspoken rules. That will cover topics like:- Problem-solving
- Slide-making
- Writing in consulting
- Accepting tasks
- Prioritization
- Top-down communication
- Project management
- Leadership exposure
- Staffing process
- Performance reviews
- Networking and sponsorship
and many other important skillsThey are delivered in the form of video lectures. Now, there are 7-8 hours of video content to watch.
2. Exercises
There are 10 practical exercises that help you apply theory to practice. Each exercise is designed to help you upgrade specific problem-solving skills, such as research, analytics, conceptual problem-solving, structuring, storylining, modeling, etc.I also use the exercise to see how you solve problems and provide you with precise feedback to unlock your performance.Because my pattern recognition, which I developed by working with hundreds of consultants, will allow me to quickly identify your specific bottlenecks and give you an actionable plan to fix them.
3. Community
Community is my secret weapon. Now, we have more than 60 MBB consultants in the program. It’s a significant sample size to show you the representative global benchmarks of how MBB consultants should perform. You can calibrate your performance against that benchmark and have an evidence-based assessment of your performance that you can use in your development process. For each exercise, you will receive the assessment score and a detailed report breaking down your strengths and development needs.Additionally, you will observe other consultants operate. That will enable you to learn from their mistakes and the best practices. You will see their final outputs, watch them accepting tasks, and presenting slides. It will just hit you differently when you see other consultants perform. That’s how we massively expand the data points you learn from. It’s a significant booster to your learning that you don’t get at your firm. That’s my secret ingredient to get you unusually fast results. And you will have lifetime access to the community.
4. Mentorship
Think of it as a ‘call-a-friend’ option. You will have many difficult situations in your consulting journey. It’s helpful to have an experienced and impartial mentor who knows you well and can give precise advice on what to do.In this case, a friendly AP (me) who walked the same path as you, helped dozens of consultants to succeed, and worked on the ‘other side of the aisle’ to answer all your tricky questions in a risk-free environment.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much time commitment does the program require?
The program is designed specifically for busy consultants. You can get significant results by just investing a couple of hours per week. If you want faster and more impressive results, you can invest more time. It will really depend on your situation, ambition, and availability. It’s entirely self-paced. There will be no deadlines or expiration dates imposed on you. You will move at a speed that is comfortable for you.
How long is the program?
Active learning takes 12-15 weeks, which is the time it takes to complete all practical exercises. The bulk of learning happens by doing practical exercises. If you need more time to do that, no worries. There will be no time limitation. You will have lifetime access to the program, and all future updates and improvements will be available at no additional cost. The program will grow with consultants and adapt to their new challenges.
What are the practical exercises?
Practical exercises are real-life tasks you typically face in MBB consulting. Each exercise is designed to help you practice specific problem-solving skills, such as research, analytics, structuring, storylining, modeling, etc. There are 10 practical exercises you will complete in the program. On average, each exercise takes 1-2 weeks to complete, so the full journey will take 12-15 weeks.
How often do we interact?
There are different types of interactions in the program. We will have 1-1 calls. These are mostly dedicated to working on practical exercises and improving various critical skills like accepting tasks, presenting outputs, and discussing feedback and calibration.Every exercise will require us to have 2 calls: the first for accepting the task, and the second for me to provide feedback. The frequency of these calls will really depend on your progression through the exercises. Also, you will have 1-1 mentorship calls to discuss any of your sensitive questions. These calls happen on your demand when you really need help.I don’t like to impose any formal constraints on how many calls you can have. My main focus is on making you successful, whatever it takes. But all my current students use it reasonably when they really need help.Additionally, there are group calls that happen weekly. On these calls, you will meet other program members, and we will discuss any questions you have.
How much does this program cost?
The coaching program is a very niche product. It focuses on a very small group of people. This precise focus allows me to provide tangible and significant benefits to members. Also, the program has a very high-touch support model requiring me to work individually with every consultant. Because only with that level of support can you achieve truly impressive results. That is why it's a high-ticket program. You need to be ready to invest in your future success. That is why I work with experienced hires in their 30s. They are mature and driven. They already know the cost of failure and the importance of investing in themselves.I provide the exact price only to people who are a perfect fit for the program and can realize a significant impact. For them, the price will make perfect sense. For other people who are not a perfect fit, the price won't make any sense.
Do you work with non-MBB consultants?
Yes, sometimes I make exceptions and enroll non-MBB consultants. They are mostly from other strategy consulting firms like Roland Berger, Oliver Wyman, or Kearney.I always check if there is a good fit for consultants in terms of their career journey, challenges, and ambitions. The reason I focus on helping mostly MBB consultants because that's what I know very well. That's why I can help you with practical and actionable advice. The program is specifically tailored for MBB firms in terms of their ways of working, processes, and culture.
When is the best time to join?
The best time to join the program is when your tenure is around 6-12 months.By that time, you've already stabilized and learned the basics. But you also haven't damaged your reputation beyond recovery.Around this time, you start realizing that this profession is more complex than you thought. Also, this is the perfect time when you can push your performance from Good to Great.Later, it will be extremely hard to change things when they go south. Don't wait. It's better to be safe than sorry.I also often enroll consultants with a tenure of 12-18 months. But they often have different objectives. They start preparing for a manager promotion. They feel that their current pace of development won't get them over that important threshold. That is why they want to radically improve their chances of success through my coaching program.
